I wrote this after the Manchester attack. Now, after Saturday's attack in London, it makes it hard to believe in the message of this poem... but I have to believe there is still hope, leading to love. Because otherwise... what is there?
And then sometimes
out of the deepest depths
true Hope arises
When it feels like all has been lost
When it feels like Hate has won
One voice is enough
to bring a whole crowd back on its feet
Just one voice with a simple message of forward motion
One voice joined by hundreds thousands millions of voices
rising up in Love
Don't look back in anger I heard them sing
Because if Hope is not the answer
it may be the path
that leads us to Love.
And then sometimes
out of the deepest depths
true Hope arises
When it feels like all has been lost
When it feels like Hate has won
One voice is enough
to bring a whole crowd back on its feet
Just one voice with a simple message of forward motion
One voice joined by hundreds thousands millions of voices
rising up in Love
Don't look back in anger I heard them sing
Because if Hope is not the answer
it may be the path
that leads us to Love.
